Far is a matter of perspective. Near is a state of mind.
Near is the hop-on, hop-off bus carrying August, 2009 tourists; far is the majestic Eiffel Tower dominating the Parisian skyline. Near is the gaggle of vehicles awaiting its turn at the stoplight; far is the lush mossy color that takes up more than half of this photograph, and the kind of grand vista that shots from inside the Louvre will allow.
(On the way to a three-month Erasmus Mundus scholarship to the University of Bordeaux in Talence in 2009, my husband who brought me and my sister as part of his luggage, made a [natural] stop in Paris that produced this treasure of a photo.)
